Jaw – Tongue Exercises and Training 4/5 – Strengthen the middle part of the Tongue

https://youtu.be/zDOdmkzWDrw

So in the video we introduce strengthening exercise and training for the middle part of the tongue.

Say the sounds; “ch” and “j”. Train by saying the sentences;

“Charlie chewing choice of cheese” and

“Jack joins Jeep”.

Each repeating between 3 – 5 times per session, 3-5 times per day.

The purpose of this exercise is to keep tongue on the roof of mouth, teeth apart and lips together to promote nose breathing.

Nose breathing is very important for healthy TMJ jaw.

Why?

It is because there is a very strong link between dry mouth, which means possibly mouth breathing and Clenching and Grinding at night (bruxism).

Clenching and Bruxing contributes to tight cheeks / jaw and unhealthy habits that can cause jaw disorder / TMJ disorder called Temporomandibular joint dysfunction.

So let’s prevent this from happening and that is why training your tongue is important for healthy jaw!

Happy Rehab!
