Botox Injection and Serious Consequence of Bone Softening. Please reconsider before going Ahead!!!

Botox injection has often been used almost casually by healthcare professionals to treat patients’ jaw issues such as pain, tightness and clicking and crepitus. Here this retrospective cohort study demonstrates that botox injections into masseters and temporals repetitively over 6 months bilaterally caused reduction in both muscle thickness, mandibular bony thinning and reduction in bone density at mandibular rami and more importantly condyle heads. I can easily imagine this condylar head bone density reduction facilitate idiopathic condylar reabsorption as a consequence of repetitive use of botox injections over the years for symptom control or beauty reasons.
