Jaw Arthritis, Tonsilitis, Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis

68.8% of people with psoriasis (with and without psoriatic arthritis) had some type of Jaw problems such as joint sound – clicks and pops and pain, joint arthritis compared to the healthy people (24.1%).

This is nearly 3 fold higher frequency.

Some other studies demonstrated the opposite.

My feeling is that people with psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis have higher incidence of jaw problems such as arthritis.

On further questioning, I have seen they may have had some repetitive tonsillitis where infections have repetitively stressed and in fact overstressed body’s own immune system in the long past when they were younger (child usually).

Still, Physiotherapy can help,

Improve jaw joint stiffness
Improve muscle mobility
Improve functions of surrounding and supporting structures such as neck / head / posture / shoulder / shoulder blades and abdominal/core muscles and buttock muscles to name a few.

So I hope this video helps to seek your own help from your Physio with a special interest in treating Jaw / TMJ conditions!

Happy Rehab!
Cheers,
