Jaw Q&A v.1 – Why Does My Tongue Press More on One Side?

In this first video of our Jaw Q&A series, Tad from Metro Physiotherapy answers a great viewer question from @Dann1002:

“Hi Doc, I have a question. When I put my tongue on the roof of my mouth, the tongue applies much pressure to the right side of the palate and less on the left. I think my right side of face is more developed than the left, and when I close my mouth with teeth touching, my jaw shifts to the right. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.”

In this video, Tad shares insight into:

  • Possible jaw asymmetry and how facial structure affects tongue posture

  • Why the tongue may apply uneven pressure

  • How jaw shifts can develop and what to do about them

  • The importance of professional assessment to determine the true cause and best course of treatment

This video is part of our ongoing effort to answer your specific jaw-related questions!
