Tight Cheeks in the jaw area and crack in the teeth or fillings
When you get tight cheek muscles in the jaw area, it is often very uncomfortable and even extremely painful.
Overactivity in the cheek muscles such as masseter and temporalis are often the source of symptom.
But why are they overactive?
Often it is a result of clenching and grinding during desk work or in your sleep.
Clenching and grinding can be so strong that it can stress up to 125kg in the back molars and 25kg in the front teeth.
So no wonder the muscles can feel tight but also it can crack the teeth or filling, causing extra pain/discomfort.
So if the pain/discomfort is constant irrespective of whether clenching/grinding or not, you may want to consult your dentist to make sure no teeth/filling have cracks in them.
